Insect World

Insects provide the ideal way to get started in Natural History.  They are plentiful, easy to catch and mount.  Insect collecting provides an ideal family activity and a great reason to explore local ecosystems.  Our Information Section provides a great Insect Identifier, that will help guide you through basic biological classification.  As there are over 500,000 different insects, it only goes down to Order.
We also provide kits that you raise your own butterflies, ladybugs and silkworms.  When you turn your butterflies loose, some may move into the butterfly Home and use the Butterfly Feeder, but both are also great for attracting wild butterflies.
If you really want to explore how exciting Insects are, be sure to see our  Butterfly Specimens and Insect Specimens.  Both are filled with really big bugs from distant lands.
